I first learned this style of art in Jr High art class. Back then we were cutting designs out of colored construction paper with an X-Acto knife. From there I started experimenting with different materials ranging from birch bark to stone. Fast forward through a whole list of life experiences as well as being introduced to the world of 3D Printing, lasers, and CNC the transformation to Serial Mad Scientist was complete!
I many work in wood but occasionally branch out into other substrtes, such as wood, metal, paper, acrylic, and stone. Really anything I can get my hands on. I find the most joy in combining different mediums to create new and unique pieces. Each idea manifests in its own individual style. I'm no stranger to my fair share of "what's this button do" adventures!
My inspiration comes from many things. Most notably is the challenge of doing something I have not done before, trying combinations that don't normally go together, and experimenting with different materials to create something unique.
